I don't write a lot of reviews, but felt that in this case I should. I work in the off-road industry and have recovered numerous vehicles from "stuck" places. I came across this product about a year ago and thought it looked "interesting". I threw a set in the back of my truck and there they stayed until about a month ago. I live in Colorado and we get a bit of snow...
On a trip to do some cross-country skiing, we happened upon a car (front wheel drive) that had gone off the road, into a deep ditch and snow bank. A park service ranger was there trying to dig the car out and having no luck. I pulled up and offered to just yank her out with a tow strap, but the road was ice as well. As I began to get the strap out, I saw the Trac-Grabbers and thought "Hmm, let's see..." I explained to the lady in the car and the Park Ranger what they were and that I had not tried them before but that in theory they should "help". I quickly installed them through her wheels, even in the deep snow, and asked her to put it in reverse and give it a small amount of gas. The tires spun a single rotation before coming to the rubber block where they stopped...I asked her to give it a little more, but not to too much...and as the car moved over the rubber block they spun again, but the car had moved back about a foot. Being cautious not to just dig holes in the snow, I blocked the road and told her to back up, giving it enough gas to keep momentum...she backed right out onto the road! All of this took approximately 10 minutes...and if she would have had a set with her, she could have freed herself by herself!
I'm impressed! For such a simple device to be so effective was amazing. To the folks that could not get them to work, they are not a high speed device...they are meant to get you unstuck in a nice controlled manner! There will be a set of these in every vehicle I own as well as my families vehicles
Putting these on was super easy. My truck has the custom wheels with the big star pattern with big gaps that are easy to reach through. I just threaded these around each of the rear rims/tires and strapped them tight. I fired up the truck, and within seconds I was out of my ice-cups and unstuck! These seem like they would work in most situations i've been in where I was stuck with tires spinning.
